"The Royal Suite was very comfortable with a massive bathroom"

The hotel was really lovely with interesting original features and sympathetic updating of the decoration. The layout, decor and seating of the bar, lounge and dining area was very pleasant. The large drawing room with tv and the library were great to sit and relax in. Our evening meal was freshly made using good quality ingredients and tasted very good. We had The Royal Suite which was very comfortable with a massive bathroom. The 35 acre parkland attached to the hotel is full of very interesting old trees including a beautiful copper beech which was opposite our bedroom window.

"what an amazing place"

I was visiting Edinburgh for work but with my family and we wanted somewhere nice to retreat to after a busy day of work / tourism. We had the car, which I would say is fairly important if you want to go into Edinburgh regularly, but what an amazing place. Beautiful, comfortable and cozy, not the least bit stuffy, and to be honest, I could have spent the three days just in "my castle" and been perfectly happy. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for a relaxing or romantic weekend, it is fine for work, if you are happy to commute a bit too. Food is great and reasonably priced.

"All the staff were brilliant"

We had a couple of nights here to get over a very enjoyable, but hectic tour across Canada & we could not have chosen a better place. All our family & friends have been saying we were more enthusiastic about this trip than the Canadian one! Our lovely room was huge with 3 big windows looking on to beautiful gardens. There was a huge library open at all times where you had access to all the books & other luxurious lounges where you were invited to have a tinkle on the baby grand piano. Nice background music was playing everywhere. We had a lovely cooked breakfast both mornings, served by the nicest of staff. All the staff were brilliant, especially, Magic, a barman, who on finishing his shift, took us on a tour round the hotel, taking our photos everywhere. All the rooms, including the snooker room, had large plasma screen tellys. What made it even more special for me - a smoker - was a nice area set aside in the courtyard, with 2 heaters & a telly. As we checked out, we spoke to a guest who was in the hotel trade & she said it was the best she had ever come across. We will certainly visit Carberry Tower again, as I'm sure will many of our friends, as we've never stopped enthusing about the place since our return!

"the most amazing place"

This is the most amazing place. Very sympathetically restored/refurbished and upgraded it retains much charm and a few surprises. The inglenook fireplace in reception complete with suit of armour, the cosy library and music room on the first floor and the vaulted and very ornate ceilings on the ground floor are a pleasure to discover. There are lots of little rooms on the ground floor that make up the bar, the lounge, the snooker room, the restaurant etc We also had a lovely walk in the grounds which are extensive.

"the rooms are absolutely huge"

This hotel is really a castle, it is gorgeous inside and out, the rooms are absolutely huge with fabulous views, the downstairs area with little bars and restaurants are just lovely, lots of little hidden places to explore, it is traditional and unique, the food was lovely, the atmosphere is perfect for a trip to Edinburgh, very romantic and authentic, easy access to city centre, romantic and gorgeous.
